A Snail Fuchi Kashira
This Fuchi Kashira is made from iron with applications of gold, silver and copper in Takabori technique a style typical to the Nara school from Edo. The snail on the Kashira works its way around the rims giving the whole piece a strong appearance. One of the snails on the Fuchi is shown from the bottom which might have an erotic meaning.
Overall a nice and artistic interpretation of this motif. The snail is seen as a symbol of steadiness and endurance. Creeping slowly but steadily, snails reflect a lesson in perseverance, an idea often found in Zen.
This snail Fuchi Kashira comes with a custom box.
