Services

We offer a variety of services directly from Japan to collectors worldwide to facilitate their purchase in Japan or get their items safely back and forth. Below, please find an overview of what we offer via Tsuba.info.

Certification of Swords and Sword fittings

It has become common practice to request certificates of authenticity for Japanese swords and sword fittings from the NBTHK. As these can only be received from the NBTHK main branch in Tokyo, we facilitate the process for you and help you get your items certified in Japan.

Japanese Sword polishing and Restauration

Many Japanese blades can still be found around the world in very bad condition and often heavily rusted. We work with certified Polishers who are working on behalf of the Japanese sword museum and the NBTHK itself to get valuable blades restored.

The price for polishing depends heavily on the condition of the item as well as on the individual polisher. For blades with normal rust, where still some shiny metal can be seen, the polishing fee would range around 300000 JPY.

Japanese polishers have diminished greatly in number and good polishers are booked out months in advance. You should plan for at least a year from shipping your item to Japan until the polishing process is finished.

Our service fee for getting your item polished in Japan is 51000 JPY excluding shipping costs.

Custom made Shirasaya and Sayagaki

Japanese blades should be kept and preserved in a custom made Shirasaya which are also detachable in case inner cleaning is needed.

Depending on the quality of the Shirasaya you choose, the price varies but for a Katana you can calculate with around 70000 JPY.

Additionaly you can order custom made Habaki as well. A gold foil plated Habaki costs around 40000 JPY.

A custom made Sayagaki costs around 55000 JPY and gives your blade an even more elegant appearance.
