High Definition Sword Photos which bring out the beauty of your blades

Tsuba.info offers collectors the chance to bring out all the beauty of their swords in full detail with our high resolution sword photography technique. Over the past few years we have photographed more than a hundred blades already, amoung them are rare Masterpieces such as the legendary ‘Black Muramasa’ a cultural property of Mie prefecture.

What distinguishes us from the standard sword photography?

Taking pictures of Japanese swords is tremendously difficult. The fine and subtle details of the temper line will only be visible if carefully studied and held under a certain angle. With our sword photography technique, we bring out 10 times more details than the standard photo would show. You can clearly see the Jihada and the Hamon, and even see the features hidden within there.

Resolution and Size

We offer 3 types of resolution, from 180 dpi to 720 dpi. The 180 dpi version already displays the features of your blade magnificently and it can be printed in 1:1 size, but if you want the full sepctrum of your sword and even increase the picture up to 3:1, you can go for the 720 dpi version.

The picture width will be 100 cm, and the sword length will be fitted to that size. It is possible to adjust the size to the exact sword measurements on demand.

Preconditions

For the sword to reveal its features under the artificial light and to make them visible for the camera, there are some mandatory conditions. First of all the sword needs to be in a polished state and must be free from rust. If there is beginning rust, our camera will recognize it. Furthermore and more important is the style of polishing used on the blade. A Sashi-Komi polish, which brings out the Hamon as it is, is most appropriate for Photography. If the blade has been polished in Kesho style, where a white paste is used to enhance the visibility of the Hamon, the Photo will mainly capture the form of the Kesho, which depending on the quality of the polisher might more or less reflect the form of the real Hamon
