Ko-Tosho Tsuba with design of carpenters’ tool
This Ko-Tosho Tsuba was probably made in the mid to late Muromachi period. Its design is at first glance abstract. It shows a common tool used by carpenters at that time to create horizontal lines. Its rusitc surface and wear speak of its age and its usage bein mounted to a blade which had still been used in the war. An old Hitsu-Ana was carefully plugged with lacquer, probably when this piece was remounted to a sword without Kozuka.
Comes with a high quality custom made Kiri box.
