Synonymous for northern Japan (former Akita, Mutsu, Dewa, Hokkaido, Shonai provinces). Ezo is used to refer to Kodogu made from sentoku or a sentoku-shibuichi alloy with gold mercury guilding (Keshi Meki). It is not known if these pieces really come from northern Japan.
