SOLD – Fuchi-Kashira, Naonori, Shishi on Shakudo

A Fuchi Kashira signed Naonori 直矩 with golden Shishi on Shakudo.

A Fuchi-Kashira made from Shakudo with a golden Shishi in high relief. The gold has been applied by a gold foil and we can see that at some parts the underlying Shakudo comes through, which points to a rather old piece. The surface of the Shakudo is left polished blank.

There were several machibori artists named Naonori and due to the similarity of the signature to the one of Yanagawa Naohisa, we believe that this piece is most likely to be attributed to Yanagawa Naonori who studied under Yanagawa Naomasa and founded the Konakamura school. He was active around 1775 which would match the visible age of this piece.

This piece would be perfect for mounting on a Koshirae with other Shishi or Shishi Botan (lion and peony) design items.

Comes with a custom made old box.
