Uji River battle Fuchi Kashira

This Fuchi Kashira depicts the famous story of the battle at Uji River. In this legend, after discovering that the bridge was dismantled, two Samurai chased through the Uji river to show their allegiance to their lord.

This piece is made of Shakudo with gold highlights in Keshikomi zogan technique. The background is worked in linear Nanako and the the details of the Samurai on their horses are quite elaborate.

It can be attributed to the Hikone bori style, introduced in the early Edo period by the first Soten master from Hikone at Biwa lake.

Comes with a standard box.
