A Kamakura Bori Tsuba with design of a temple scene

We have here a typical Kamakura Bori piece dating back to the the Muromachi period. The especially flat relief which covers the whole item is characteristic for Tsuba attributed to this group. At the same time they exhibit similar traits as Kachushi Tsuba with their rather thin plate of around 3 mm. Also typical for the early times the Hitsu-ana is slightly elongated.

The name Kamakura Bori relates to the idea that these pieces might have already been made as early as from the Kamakura period.

The design is representing the scene of a temple garding with a bridge in the front and a five fold pagoda in the background. There is also a Sukashi element of a Koun, a so called lucky cloud.

A charmin piece for a collection of old Tsuba.

Comes with a custom made box.
