A Kishu Teimei Origami design Tsuba
The very modern design of a state of origami folding is worked out of the very solid and densely forged iron plate. The glossy dark surface of the irregularly shaped inner design touches the rim at six points preventing from any aspect of symmetry. Indeed the design is an open puzzle or intelligent mystery as one cannot approach it’s resolution.
This Tsuba looks absolutely great on a Koshirae and will never bore the eyes of the user or owner.
Some experts think that the Kishu Teimei masters worked their tsuba not only for the Tokugawa clan of Wakayama but also for the many land owning farmers on the Kii peninsula that also had been fighting as mercenaries for the warlords or temples that had been able to pay them. Of course this only had been possible until the beginning of the more or less peaceful Edo period.
