Higo Tsuba, Korin, fudo myou ni ame

Categories: , , Tags: ,

A Higo Tsuba by Korin in Fudo myou ni nami (design of a Bonji probably a symbol for Fudo Myou in fire over waves) in front of vertical rain stripes or a waterfall.

“The sun shines upon all without discrimination. This Buddha bestows great light to all sentient beings.”

Korin was a late independent Higo master dwelling at Kumamoto’s Tsuboi quarter. This tsuba is typical for his working style. The Bonji to the right is done in solid silver in front of flames of golden nunome. The heads of the waves at the bottom are done in now blackened silver nunome zogan.

The tsuba comes with a custom made box.

Iron with gold and silver nunome zogan and the bonji with solid silver zogan.
